Are Debt Collectors Harassing You About A Dead Family Member’s Debts

Because  the number of consumers dying in debt has grown in recent years,  the FTC has gotten numerous complaints from people who are  being pursued by debt collectors regarding their loved ones’ debts.

Often times, debt collectors will tell the grieving family members they have a moral obligation to pay, especially if they benefitted from the purchases while their loved one was living.   Many family members pay the debts in order to make the debt collection calls and letters stop. A few debt collectors even send condolence cards that are also debt collection letters.
Unfortunately, debt collectors know that the death of a loved one is a difficult time and they seek to take advantage of the circumstances.  If you are being harassed by debt collectors regarding a deceased relative’s debts, please give my office, The Law Offices of Todd M. Friedman a call today at (877) 449-8898.
