Biography

Thank you for visiting my website. Looking for an attorney can be stressful during a difficult time like this, especially finding counsel who you can trust, and will represent you the way you deserve to be. My team and I are here to do just that. In that regard, let me tell you a little about myself.

I am the founding partner at The Law Offices of Todd M. Friedman, P.C. I am a Plaintiff’s attorney who represents, you, the consumer. I pride myself in my unique ability to force Defendants to come to the table with favorable settlements with my clients, by balancing a direct bulldog mentality with a patience and understanding required to be successful in any time of resolution. I concentrate my practice in consumer litigation, including fair debt collection, employment matters, lemon law, fair credit reporting and personal injury litigation. Prior to opening my practice, I was the managing attorney at a top consumer litigation firm, beginning in July of 2002.

In 2014, I was awarded lead counsel rating in the legal disciplines of Consumer Protection, Lemon Law and Civil Litigation, by the prestigious Lead Counsel Review Board. In that same year, I was voted by the American Society of Legal Advocates as one of the Top 40 lawyers under 40 in the entire nation. I have authored various books to help consumers, including an 18 pages Consumer Rights Guide that encompasses several areas of Law Including Employment and Debtors issues, as well as a Book Entitled, “7 Deadly Mistakes that Will Wreck Your Car Crash Case,” both of which are available at no cost on this website.

I have successfully litigated over 5,000 individual Plaintiff’s cases, mainly using the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA) and the California Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (RFDCPA), as well as Lemon Law, Employment and Personal Injury/Wrongful Death matters. I am regarded as a one of the predominant Plaintiff’s practitioners in California. My vast array of experience and knowledge in these practice areas along with my extensive trial skills, make me one of the premiere advocates within these areas of law. In conjunction with my consumer litigation practice, I have spoken as a guest lecturer before the California Association of Collectors, and will be speaking this year at the Association of Credit and Collection Professionals’ (ACA) annual national conference, both groups whose members I have filed several individual and class action lawsuits against, on behalf of wrong consumers.

I also focus a significant portion of my practice on class action litigation. I have, over the past several years, orchestrated nation-wide consumer driven class litigation before a number of state and federal courts. I have been lead or co- counsel in over 100 national class actions in the last 4 years. This includes class actions against some of the nation’s largest banks, credit card companies and other fortune 500 companies. The majority of my class action experience is in litigation involving TCPA (Telephone Consumer Protection Act), FDCPA, RFDCPA, CA Penal Code 630, et seq., CA Business and Professions Code §17200, et seq. and misrepresentation cases.

I was recently part of the class action Gehrich, et al v Chase Bank, et al, which was approved preliminarily as the one of the biggest TCPA class action settlements in US jurisprudence history and also recently, Friedman v. Los Angeles Clippers and Dancer v L.A. times, both of which achieved final approval status in 2014.

I was admitted to both the Illinois Bar and the California Bar in 2002, as well as the Pennsylvania Bar in 2010. I have been admitted to practice before the U.S. District for the Central District of Illinois and the US District for the Northern, Eastern, Southern and Central Districts of California and District of Colorado, and have argued in front of the Ninth Circuit court of appeals. I earned my Juris Doctor degree from Loyola Law School in 2001 and my undergraduate degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1998. I was born and raised in Cleveland Ohio.

Feel free to contact me via phone or email at any time. I pride myself in being quickly responsive to your communications and look forward to assisting you with any legal issue you may have.
