A Recent Story
According to NBC News online, a woman purchased a vehicle. When the driver’s seat in the vehicle became unstable, she brought the car – under warranty at the time – to the dealership for repairs.
All the dealership did was put a wood shim behind the seat to keep it from moving around.
Then, after the warranty had expired, the problem came back. The woman brought the vehicle back to the dealership, only this time – now that the warranty had expired – the dealership said that the entire seat would need to be replaced at the consumer’s expense.

Two Sides of the Argument
On the one hand, the dealership will say that they should not have to absorb the cost of the repairs because the vehicle is no longer under warranty.
But on the other hand, the repairs made while the vehicle was under warranty were not adequate, and thus, the dealership should absorb the cost. If the dealership had done the repairs properly the first time, the problem would not have come up again.
