Federal and State Laws have been put in place to protect consumers from debt collection abuse.  It does not make a difference whether you are behind in your payments or not, debt collectors are not allowed to harass you.

Debt Collectors are not allowed to call you before 8:00am or after 9:00pm.  Threatening you, cursing at you and insulting you are not allowed. They may not demand that you pay more than you owe.  Lies, such as stating that documents they sent you are legal forms if they are not, are unacceptable.    And they can’t call you at work after you have informed them that you employer doesn’t allow it.

If your debts have gone into collection, remember that you have rights.  The more you know about your legal rights the better off you will be.

If you think that a debt collector has violated your legal rights, you may be entitled to compensation.  Please give my office, The Law Offices of Todd M. Friedman a call at (877) 449-8898 for a free consultation.
